Because client services are his passion, Allen I. Kutchins has worked in public accounting since 1970, holding proprietary positions since 1977. He is a principal shareholder and co-founder of KRD. Allen oversees management, planning, research and review of client services, and utilizes the team approach in helping clients attain their financial goals.
Allen specializes in family and business estate and financial planning along with offering consulting services to help the firm’s clients grow. “The philosophy of our firm -- helping clients achieve financial success through sound advice -- is also our Mission Statement,” says Allen. “We accomplish our objective by paying attention and listening closely to clients’ wishes and desires. If we can figure out what they want, we can help them achieve their goals.”
Allen is also a principal member of KRD Financial Advisory Services. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant, he has been awarded the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation by the CFP Board of Standards, the Personal Financial Specialist (PFS) designation from the AICPA, the Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC) and Chartered Life Underwriter designations from the American College. In 2002 he earned his Certified Turnaround Professional designation from the Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals. Allen is also a Certified Hospitality Account Executive (CHAE). He is also a member of several professional organizations including the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA Society.
Allen earned his Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University and his Masters of Science in Taxation degree from DePaul University. Allen holds licenses in Securities; series 6, 63, 65; Insurance; Illinois, life and accident & health, and Business and Loan Brokerage licenses. Allen has a published article in the Locksmith Ledger. Allen serves on the Board of Trustees for Kendall College, Evanston, Illinois, finance committee. He also serves as a board member and Treasurer of the Children’s Oncology Services of Illinois (formally The Ronald McDonald House Near Children's Memorial Hospital), he was a Board member for the Trustees for Northbrook Congregation Ezra Habonim for over 10 years, is currently on the Board of Directors for La Rabida Children's Hospital on the finance committee, and works with many volunteer organizations. He is active in Children's Oncology Services of Michigan which sponsors the American Dream Flite trip to Disney World for children with cancer or leukemia.
He and his wife, Genie reside in Glenview. They have two grown children, Emily, and Amy (who is married to Josh Schindler). He is also a doting grandfather to Rachel and Joey Schindler. Allen's hobbies include visits to various art galleries and adding to his already extensive collection of fine art, elegant dining, spending quality time with family, and WORK! WORK! WORK!
